SLJ: Camping Site

 Hello,

Today's task is called: Camping site. This was a pretty hard task, but I did it. The task was to be like your owning a new paddock, and your turning it into a campsite. We had to colour the sites into equal sites, and then there was a maths question, which we had to work out on a Jam Board. I have put the Jam Board thing on the slides, so you can have a look at what I have done.

Here is my slides:

I don't really know what Thursday's other activity is, but if it comes, I'll do it!

  1. Kia ora Mahrosh,

It’s Shannon from the Summer Learning Journey.

Ka pai on completing your challenge. It looked hard but you did a good job!

I was wondering where you got your 4 from though for your equation 15 x 4?

To make the most profit, I would probably utilise all of the campsites. A quick way to count these is to count all the squares at the top across, and all the squares on the left going down and multiply these two numbers. In the first grid, I got 10 x 5 which gives 50. Then you would times that number by the price, so $15 x 50 which gives $750. Next I would see what profit I could get from the next campsite which has a different number of equally sized squares, and compare the answers to see which makes the most money.

I hope that helps and will check back soon to see how you get on!

Bye for now and keep up the amazing work! I’m so proud of you!

    1. Hi Shannon,
Thanks for commenting! I didn't really know how to do the equations, so I set up some sticky notes to help me. I got the 4 from my campsites, they go 4 across. I don't know why.

    2. Hi Mahrosh,

It was a great attempt, I now see where you were coming from. It was a tricky activity! Have you reattempted it?

      Bye for now,
      Shannon (SLJ)
